What’s new?

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

1. Guinness Draught tastes like the belabored piss of a deranged lab rat with a secret cocaine addiction and his fair share of STDs.

2. Since a Joker costume can get damn expensive, I decided to put my Monroeville Zombies hockey jersey to good use and dress up as a zombified hockey player for Halloween. I took a picture of my face using my cell phone.

3. I’ve started up my Netflix account again. I am currently watching the first seasons of Dexter, Extras, and Torchwood. Good stuff all around.

4. November is shaping up to be a good month for me. I’ll be turning 23 on the 19th, and I’ve got a $400 deposit from Verizon Wireless heading my way this month as well. Woot!

5. I’ve returned to Candy Mountain.

Stop the Americanization

Friday, October 10th, 2008

I don’t know why anyone would think that it would be a good idea to take a British television series and remake it with an American cast. Coupling. The Office. Life on Mars. Edgar Wright has voiced his opposition to the rumors of an American remake of Spaced. Are there really no new ideas to be had?

What’s next? An American version of Doctor Who with David Schwimmer as the Doctor? How about a bunch of talentless stand-up “comedians” coming together as the American Monty Python’s Flying Circus?

I wouldn’t be so pissed off if original shows like Firefly could actually get past season one.

Veronica Mars is over…

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

Of course, Veronica Mars was canceled a little over a year ago. However, I haven’t tuned in to a T.V. series regularly ever since Angel was canceled. I’m a wait-for-the-DVD kind of guy, and I’ve been putting off the third and final season of Veronica Mars even though it’s been sitting on my shelf since my last birthday. Why? I didn’t want the show to be over.

Well, I just finished season three of Veronica Mars. It’s over, and it ended on a cliff-hanger! I was pissed when I popped in the last disc; I had forgotten that the last disc is reserved for special features only. However, there is a very brief look into what season four could have been like. It’s like a mini-pilot, which also ends on a cliff-hanger! Oh, and it’s set several years in the future, so it doesn’t even bother to address any of the big questions that sprung up in the series finale.

Long story short, it was a good show. I wish it hadn’t ended prematurely, but I have high hopes for a movie or perhaps an actual fourth season. If you, my gentle reader(s), are seeking entertainment that will hold you over for months on end, then I beseech you to check out all three seasons of Veronica Mars.
